Software
I use libre software whenever possible. Exceptions include work related software (cloud-based office suites for collaboration) and firmware to make my devices work. You can support libre software through the Free Software Foundation.
Here is a list of software that I use and/or recommend:
- Debian or Arch as the OS.
- Mullvad browser or Firefox or Ungoogled Chromium as the web browser.
- Emacs as the main editor. I use ted, an editor that I wrote, for small editing tasks on the terminal.
- borgbackup to a USB drive and rsync.net for backup.
- OpenBSD on the server.
- KeePassXC for password management. I use mypass, a password manager that I wrote, for password management. However, it is not security audited and I do not recommend it over KeePassXC. Both programs ensure that your secrets stay on your computer unless you explicitly copy it elsewhere.
- SimpleX for chat.
- Any privacy respecting email service provider for email.
